ZUMBA TONING®

Why don't you spice up your workout ... with Zumba Toning? This new and exciting Zumba Toning programme is designed to offer the participant a safe, yet effective total body conditioning workout! Check out the details and link below.

WHAT IS ZUMBA TONING?

It's an exciting, Latin inspired, dance 'n' tone program. This is the original dance-fitness class taken to the next level. Zumba Toning is a blend of body-sculpting techniques and specific Zumba moves into one calorie-burning, resistance training class. You'll will use weighted, maraca-like Zumba Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all the target zones.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BASIC ZUMBA AND ZUMBA TONING?

In a nut shell, the main difference is the addition of resistance training exercises within the choreography by using toning sticks. This class does not focus solely on the aerobic workout you know and expect from a regular Zumba class, but instead works on circuit training (a few minutes of cardio followed by a few minutes of weight resistance training) which creates a higher calorie burn than resistance training alone. In addition, it offers some cardiovascular exercise, and because it is still Zumba, it’s FUN!

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

To sweat - a lot! If you've been doing Zumba, then you will be used to working your lower body rhythm. Now it's time to perfect the upper body! In a relatively short period of time, this challenging workout will help tone and develop muscle endurance. In addition to the toning effects, it also helps to improve your posture, balance, coordination, agility, bone density, joint mobility – and lots more!

WILL IT BULK ME UP?

No, it will not. The truth is there are very few women who “bulk up” easily and the weights used and the high number of reps in Zumba Toning will not make you develop significant muscle mass. To gain a pound of muscle takes an incredible amount of work and heavy weight training. The name “ZumbaToning” says it all. This class is meant to create a toned look – not a bulky look.

WHAT ARE TONING STICKS?

The maraca-like toning sticks come in 1 lb (green) and 2.5 lbs (purple). They are filled with sand, thus allowing more “give” than traditional hand weights, which helps prevent jarring which can occur with traditional weights. They let you shake, rattle and roll your way to toned muscles and a leaner body. They're also a lot of fun!

WILL TONING STICKS OR WEIGHTS BE PROVIDED?

No, you will need to bring your own weights.

CAN I USE TRADITIONAL HAND WEIGHTS?

You are able to use light hand weights instead of the toning sticks, but because hand weights are rigid (as opposed to the flowing sand that is inside the toning sticks) you may have difficulty doing some of the moves. (Plus, you're unable to shake these weights so the fun factor goes down a few degrees!). If you decide to purchase traditional hand weights, then please do not go above a 3lb weight.

IS ZUMBA TONING SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE?

This class is open to everyone, no previous dance or Zumba class experience necessary. If you have any known medical or physical conditions you should consult your GP before undertaking a new exercise program. He/she will let you know if a weight resistance class is appropriate for you. You need to seek your GP's approval for the following conditions before participating in a Body Conditioning class:
